wow does time fly! Its been a year!?
Since the Blue Door Beads update, I have been creating art between work, relaxation, and as of the last 8 months, growing a little girl – due July 23rd, 2017!
I have also jumped on the instagram – http://www.instagram.com/krystal_nzoiwu to continue the spreading out of my art from home to the public stage. You will probably see the same images – but today, on here, I am posting a bunch of drawings (Yay!). I recently scanned these drawings in case they were picked out and purchased when I participated in my first First Friday last week 06/02/2017 (big Thank You to Sydney Khan here selling her jewelry – who helped get us a spot and with the low down on how these events go – You’ve done so much for my artist development – you’re an angel!).
First Friday was an awesome experience I plan on doing again, after the baby is born. I had my trusty art portfolio that visitors could flip through and purchase (depending on my personal attachment to the piece).
I found that those who took the time to go through it for a few minutes really enjoyed the openess – where most artist only show their best, which is understandable. But the unconcealed sharing of my best, worst, personal, weird, unexpainable works made them feel more comfortable. People laughed. Some starred at a piece, looked at me, looked at the piece in a bit of bewilderment… Some shook their heads almost embarassed for me, and some couldnt decide on which one they liked most – between the cut out figure drawings or Bay Bridge quick pen sketch. They appreciated seeing my process, and some of the pieces, that I either don’t like or cannot explain, sold!
Here is one that sold:
So here’s to being resolved, discovered, debunked and open.
Here are some other art activity I have done or been involved.
I am always down if it is art related.
More will be added in the near future.
Some random drawings from my sketchbook, band promo drawings, and successful drawings I really enjoyed when I finished. Most are done by pen. Graphite, marker, and ink and color pencil, crayola, and sharpie.
This is a first step toward the life I dreamt of, lived as a child, practice as a teen, lost after college, and yearn for as a young adult. I make art because it is what I do for fun. I have not made art for money, for galleries or praise (a little praise is always nice i can’t lie). I make it to remember images that I found intriguing. To share with friends. To give as gifts. To spill out colors, texture, my fixations and strange. I have kept most of my art on my apartment walls so I can stare at them while falling asleep in hopes of figuring out my final touches until I have a sense of “completion”. I am one of those artist where my work is never done, so how can I think about selling work?!
This invitation from Sydney Khan (check out her pieces, take a class, meet this convivial artist and get inspired) has been a huge blessing and put pressure to complete pieces, market myself (i.e. this site) and to get this life started! So many thanks to Syd and Dara Rosenwasser (BDB Art Coordinator).
I hope you can make it out to this show:
